Cpanel/PHP updates - Buckley (Completed)

We will be undertaking important server software maintenance and updates on Buckley between 7.30am - 9.30am on Thursday 8th June 2017 to ensure the continued reliability and security of this server.

Unfortunately this will result in some disruption to service at some point during the maintenance window, but anticipate that this should only last for around 5 mins.

During the maintenance window we will be updating cPanel which will cause brief POP3/IMAP unavailability and MySQL restarts during updates. Apache and PHP will also be updated, which will cause around 2 minutes of HTTP unavailability. Mod Security will also be updated, but this should not cause any unavailability.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this important work.

Server hardware migration - Chad (Completed)

Chad has been scheduled to be migrated to better hardware on Thursday 18 May 2017.

The exact time of the switch over cannot be confirmed until more of the data has been moved across, but it will happen sometime around 10.30am.

On the run up to this migration there will be some disruption to services (mail, FTP, MySQL) but we will attempt to keep these to a minimum. However some disruption is needed in order to maintain data integrity while the changeover happens.

We will update this announcement when the migration is happening, and when it is complete.

PHP Upgrade (Completed)

To safeguard the security of our servers, on Wednesday 27th July 2016 we will be upgrading the primary version of PHP installed from 5.5 to 5.6.

There are very few incompatibilities between the versions but the change may have an adverse affect on some scripts/programs. You can find full details of the incompatibilities and changes on the PHP Net website

Following the upgrade you will continue to be able to force your site to run under an older version of PHP. But this is only intended to be a short-term fix whilst you update any scripts to ensure their compatibility with version 5.6. These older versions of PHP will eventually be removed, and quite possibly at very short notice if a major security flaw is discovered in an older version.
